General Decription
FR-4, an abbreviation for Flame Retardant 4, is a base material used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards (PCB's). FR4 describes the board itself with no copper cladding. Bare FR4 is yellow/green in colour. FR4 for PCB manufacture is typically clad in 1/2oz or 1oz copper foil.
The list of available sizes
Use
1/2oz copper clad is typically used in the manufacture of double sided PCB's with Plated Through Holes or Via's. The 1/2 refers to the thickness of the copper foil cladding 1/2oz being 18 microns and 1oz being 36 microns. Typically 1/2oz board is processed and plated upto 1oz during the manufcture process
1/2oz or 1oz board can be used as final copper thickness depending on the application. In low current digital applications either 1/2oz or 1oz can be used, for high current or very low resistance applications 1oz is often specified.

Health and Safety
OVERVIEW:
A nonflammable, sheet material. Dust, when machined or punched may cause skin or eye irritation. Fumes, if decomposed may irritate eyes, nose, and throat.
POTENTIAL HEALTH HAZARDS
SKIN: Dust may cause moderate skin irritation.
EYES: Dust may cause moderate eye irritation. Fumes may irritate eyes.
INHALATION: Fibrous glass dust may be released from the fiberglass cloth substrate when machined.
