General
Tungsten Carbide printed circuit board routers with 1 / 8" (3.175mm) shank. Though we carry stock of popular sizes other sizes from 0.5mm to 3.175mm are also available.
We carry two flute geometries for printed circuit routing, "diamond cut" and "chip-breaker". Our tools are "up-cutting", the debris (swarf) is pulled up out of the slot during routing, Up-cutting bits are best used wwhere a vacuum pick-up attached to, or near, the spindle can collect debris as it is pulled up out of the cut.
The router bits are designed for cutting composite materials and are NOT recommended for use in wood or thermoplastics (Plexiglas, Lexan, polycarbonate, etc.). Please examine our selection of end-mills for woodworking or plastic forming tools.
Use
We reccomend our PCB routers for use on all mechanical etching systems like those from LPKF and T-Tech. We favour Chip-breaker for use on our LPKF machines. The special geometry of chipbreaker routers provides exceptional swarf removal, reduces radial load significantly and produces a very fine surface finish.
Safety Warning, Drilling and Milling
Dust and mist created by drilling, milling and other activities may release chemicals and residue from the materials and tools that could cause adverse health effects
POTENTIAL HEALTH HAZARDS
- SKIN: Dust may cause moderate skin irritation.
- EYES: Dust may cause moderate eye irritation. Fumes may irritate eyes.
- INHALATION: Fibrous glass dust may be released from the fiberglass cloth substrate when machined.
REDUCE THE RISK
Risk from these exposures varies depending on how often this type of work is performed and the amount of individual exposure. To reduce the amount of exposure to harmful chemicals and materials:
- Work in a well ventilated area
- Avoid breathing in dust or mist
- Use approved methods of dust and mist control
- Avoid prolonged skin contact with dust or mist
- Consult the power tool manual for proper use of the power tool and safety equipment requirements.
- Use approved safety and protective equipment: Gloves, shields, dust masks, protective clothing, tool guards, etc.
